K. K. Patel Super Speciality Hospital

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated to the nation K. K. Patel Super Speciality Hospital in Bhuj, Gujarat through video conferencing.
  • The hospital has been built by Shree Kutchi Leva Patel Samaj, Bhuj.
  • In a tweet, Mr Modi said, the hospital will significantly augment the health infrastructure in Kutch.
  • This 200 bedded hospital is the first charitable super Speciality hospital in Kutch. Super Speciality services such as Interventional Cardiology, Radiation Oncology, Surgical Oncology, Nephrology, Neurosurgery, Joint Replacement, and other supportive services like laboratory and radiology are provided in the hospital at an affordable cost.

Record Mineral Production In Country

  • The Mineral Production Has Recorded 13.2 Percent Cumulative Growth From April To February In The Last Financial Year. Coal Ministry Said, The Index Of Mineral Production In The Mining And Quarrying Sector For February This Year Was 4.5 Percent Higher As Compared To February Last Year.
  • The Production Level Of Important Minerals In February This Year Were – Coal 795 Lakh Tonnes, Lignite 47 Lakh Tonnes, Petroleum (Crude) 23 Lakh Tonnes, Chromite 373 Thousand Tonnes, And Gold 125 Kilogram.

Logo Of 2023 Men’s Hockey World Cup Unveiled

  • Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik yesterday unveiled the logo of the 2023 FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup at the Kalinga stadium in the capital Bhubaneswar. To be held in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Rourkela, the prestigious quadrennial tournament is scheduled from January 13 to 29.
  • Hockey India and its official partner Odisha will host the marquee event for the second consecutive time in the country after 2018.
  • The 15th edition of the showpiece will be staged in Bhubaneswar and Rourkela, where the country’s largest hockey stadium is being constructed.

77 Million People Slipped Into Poverty Last Year: UN

  • United Nations has said that more than 77 million people slipped into poverty in 2021 as governments struggled to service debts and secure early vaccine access. The UN in a report released yesterday, said, rich countries managed to avoid the worst economic impacts of the coronavirus pandemic, but poorer ones continue to deal with debilitating debt.
  • On average, rich countries spend 3.5% of their revenue on servicing debt while less rich nations use up to 14% of revenue, according to the UN.
  • The report said some 20% of countries will not return to pre-2019 levels of GDP per capita by the end of 2023. The poorest countries pumped billions into servicing debts and were forced to cut spending on education and infrastructure, the report noted. The UN earlier said that soaring food and fuel prices amid the Ukraine situation are already impacting import-dependent countries.

SpaceX Capsule Carry 3 Paying Customers To ISS

  • A SpaceX capsule carrying three paying customers and a former NASA astronaut arrived at the International Space Station yesterday, finishing the first leg of this first-of-its-kind mission that will last about 10 days.
  • The Ax-1 mission, which was organized by Houston company Axiom Space, launched on Friday. The mission is flying on the SpaceX Crew Dragon Endeavour.
  • The mission was launched from Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The spacecraft, which separated from the rocket after reaching orbit, spent about 20 hours free-flying through orbit as it maneuvered closer to the ISS.
  • The trip was brokered by the Houston, Texas-based startup Axiom Space, which seeks to book rocket rides, provide all the necessary training, and coordinate flights to the ISS.

India To Host Street Child Cricket World Cup In 2023

  • India will host the Street Child Cricket World Cup in 2023. Organized by Street Child United and Save the Children India,  the Street Child Cricket World Cup 2023 will welcome 22 teams from 16 countries to India next year.
  • In 2019, this championship was held in London where eight teams competed, and Team India South lifted the cup after beating hosts England.
  • This event will take place in September ahead of the ICC World Cup, and see street children and young people take part in a mixed-gender cricket tournament. Details on venues will be notified later.

FIH Junior Women’s Hockey World Cup

  • The Netherlands lifted their fourth FIH Junior Women’s Hockey World Cup title after beating Germany 3-1 in the final at Potchefstroom, South Africa. Giving an early lead to the Netherlands, Danique van der Veerdonk scored the first goal in seven minutes. Then, Germany’s Sophia Schwabe equalized the score in the 32nd minute. Just after two minutes, Tessa Beetsma restored her Dutch team’s lead to 2-1.
  • Beetsma then bagged her brace in the 44th minute. With superb performance, the Netherlands conceded their first goal of the tournament in the summit clash. Till the final, the Netherlands had scored 46 goals and conceded none. Earlier England defeated India 3-0 in the shoot-out after a 2-2 draw to claim the bronze medal in the third-place match.

Himachal Diwas Celebrated

  • Himachal Pradesh is a state in northern India. Bordering Tibet, it is noted for its Himalayan landscapes (Himachal means ‘snow-laden region’) and is a popular tourist destination for trekking and enjoying the natural beauty.
  • The state also has the fourth-highest per capita income of the Indian States and is the third fastest growing economy in India.
  • Himachal Day is a gazette public holiday in the Himachal Pradesh state in India.
  • It is always celebrated on April 15th. It was on this day in 1948 that Himachal Pradesh was created as a province of India.
  • Following independence from Britain in 1947, the Chief Commissioner’s Province of Himachal Pradesh was created on April 15th, 1948, as a result of the integration of 28 petty princely states (including feudal princes and zaildars) in the promontories of the western Himalayas.
  • On December 18th, 1970, the State of Himachal Pradesh Act was passed by Parliament and the new state came into being on January 25th, 1971. Himachal then became the eighteenth state of the Indian Union. This event is marked by the public holiday of Statehood Day in Himachal Pradesh on January 25th each year.
