47 Years Of Aryabhata: India’s Journey Into Space

  • Aryabhata Was India’s First Satellite, Named After The Famous Indian Astronomer.
  • It Was Launched On 19 April 1975 From Kapustin Yar, A Soviet Rocket Launch And Development Site In Astrakhan Oblast Using A Kosmos-3m Launch Vehicle.
  • It Was Built By The ISRO And Launched By The Soviet Union As A Part Of The Soviet Interkosmos Programme Which Provided Access To Space For Friendly States.

AIMA Managing India Awards 2022

  • Chairman, ISRO Shri S Somanath received the AIMA  Outstanding PSU of the year Award conferred on ISRO, at the Managing India Awards 2022 in New Delhi on April 12, 2022.
  • Nitin Gadkari, Minister for Road Transport and Highways presented the 2021 AIMA Managing India Awards (AIMA) in multiple categories in Delhi. In the films category, Shoojit Sircar was honored with the Director Of The Year award for Sardar Udham.
  • The 12th edition of the AIMA Managing India Awards is being organized physically, coinciding with the 7th National Leadership Conclave.
  • The All-India Management Association (AIMA) is the national apex body of the management profession in India. AIMA is a not-for-profit, non-lobbying organization, working closely with Industry, Government, Academia, and students to further the cause of the management profession in India.
  • AIMA has a membership base of over 38000 members and close to 6000 corporate /institutional members, through 67 Local Management Associations affiliated to AIMA; and is represented in several policy-making bodies of the Government of India and national associations.
  • Established in 1957, AIMA has contributed immensely to the enhancement of management capability in the country over the years. Mauritius PM Pravind Jugnauth Arrives In India

  • Prime Minister of Mauritius, Pravind Kumar Jugnauth arrived in Mumbai yesterday on an eight-day visit to India. Mr. Jugnauth is accompanied by his wife Kobita Jugnauth and a high-level delegation. He is visiting India at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
  • The visiting dignitary will participate in the Ground-Breaking Ceremony of the WHO-Global Centre for Traditional Medicine at Jamnagar on 19th April and the Global Ayush Investment and Innovation Summit at Gandhinagar in Gujarat on 20th April, along with Prime Minister Modi.
  • Apart from official engagements in Gujarat and New Delhi, the Prime Minister of Mauritius will also visit Varanasi. high-level visits have been one of the significant aspects of bilateral relations between India and Mauritius.
  • former ambassador Ashok Sajjanhar said that the visit will improve the bilateral relations between the two nations.

Senior Asian Wrestling Championship

  • The senior Asian Wrestling Championship will begin today in Mongolia. 30 Indian wrestlers, including Olympic medalists Ravi Dahiya and Bajrang Punia, will participate in the event.
  • A total of 20 wrestlers from the men’s team across the Freestyle and Greco-Roman categories and 10 from the women’s team are participating in the event.
  • Sports Authority of India has sanctioned 1.28 crore rupees for the participation of the Indian wrestlers.

83rd Senior National Table Tennis Championship

  • In Meghalaya, the 83rd Senior National Table Tennis Championship began today at SAI Indoor Stadium, NEHU, Shillong. The event has been organized by the Meghalaya Table Tennis Associations in collaboration with the Department of Sports Youth Affairs, Government of Meghalaya under the aegis of the Table Tennis Federation of India.
  • Around 450 players from 36 different teams from all over the country are participating in the week-long event. Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh inaugurated the event.

WHO Global Centre For Traditional Medicine

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi today laid the foundation stone of the WHO Global Centre for Traditional Medicine (GCTM) in Jamnagar Gujarat. Prime Minister of Mauritius Pravind Kumar Jugnauth and Director-General of World Health Organisation Dr. Tedros Ghebreyesus were also present on this occasion.
  • The WHO Global Centre For Traditional Medicine In India At Jamnagar, Gujarat, With Its Interim Office At The Institute Of Training And Research In Ayurveda (ITRA) In Gujarat.
  • This Centre Will Be Supported By An Investment Of About USD 250 Million From The GoI. The Primary Objective Of GCTM Is To Harness The Potential Of Traditional Medicine From Across The World Through Modern Sci & Tech And Improve The Overall Health Of The Communities Across the World.
  • GCTM Will Be The First And Only Global Centre (Office) For Traditional Medicine Across The Globe. It Will Focus On Building A Solid Evidence Base For Policies And Standards On Traditional Medicine Practices And Products And Help Countries Integrate them Into Their Health Systems And Regulate Them.
