Putin Get Permission to Use Force Outside Russia

• Russian President Vladimir Putin asked the country’s parliament on Tuesday for permission to use military force outside the country – a move that could presage a broader attack on Ukraine after the U.S. said an invasion was already underway there.
  • “Russian troops have entered in Donbas,” the name for the area where the two separatist regions are located, EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said in Paris. “We consider Donbas part of Ukraine.”
  • Members of the upper house, the Federation Council, voted unanimously to allow Putin to use military force outside Russia – effectively formalizing a Russian military deployment to the rebel regions, where an eight-year conflict has killed nearly 14,000 people.

DRDO Takes Part In ‘Vigyan Sarvatra Pujayate’

• DRDO is participating in ‘Vigyan Sarvatra Pujyate’ being held across the country on the occasion of the 75th year of India’s Independence, ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’.
• ‘Vigyan Sarvatra Pujayate’ is a pan-India programme to showcase science, technology & innovation from every part of the country during February 22-28, 2022.
• The DRDO is also organising exhibitions on the theme ‘Amrit Mahotsav Science Showcase: Roadmap to 2047’ in 16 cities throughout the country.
• Various DRDO products pertaining to different technologies are going to be exhibited. This includes models of Nag, Man-Portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile (MPATGM), Akash, BrahMos, Astra, Pralay, Mission Shakti, Armoured Engineer Reconnaissance Vehicle (AERV), Mareech, 3D Central Acquisition Radar (3D CAR), Electronic Warfare System, Bridge Layer Tank (BLT), etc. Technologies on display are retro motor, booster motor, composite rocket motor casing, drop tank, break disk, etc.

Indian Embassy In Nepal Celebrates 74th Army Day

• The defence wing of the Indian embassy in Nepal on Sunday celebrated the 74th Indian Army Day.
• The Ambassador of India to Nepal, Vinay Mohan Kwatra, recalled the deep historical linkages between the Indian Army and the Nepali Army, binding the two countries in a strong bond of fraternal ties.

• Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi on Monday visited the Galwan valley along the Line of Actual Control with China around the area where troops of both countries clashed in June 2020.

China, Russia Among Those Arming Myanmar

• UN Security Council members China and Russia, as well as Serbia, have continued supplying Myanmar’s junta with weapons used to attack civilians since last year’s coup, a UN rights expert said.
• “Despite the evidence of the military junta’s atrocity crimes being committed with impunity since launching a coup last year, UN Security Council members Russia and China continue to provide the Myanmar military junta with numerous fighter jets, armoured vehicles,“.
