EXERCISE MILAN-2022 TO COMMENCE 25 FEB 2022

The latest edition of the Indian Navy’s multilateral exercise MILAN 2022 is scheduled to commence from 25 Feb 22 in the ‘City of Destiny’, Visakhapatnam.
- MILAN 22 is being conducted over a duration of 9 days in two phases with the harbour phase scheduled from 25 to 28 February and Sea Phase from 01 to 04 March.
- The theme of the MILAN 2022 exercise is ‘Camaraderie – Cohesion – Collaboration’.

About MILAN:

MILAN is a biennial multilateral naval exercise incepted by the Indian Navy in 1995 at Andaman and Nicobar Command.
- Starting with the participation of only four countries, viz Indonesia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, and Thailand, in the 1995 edition.
- MILAN 22 will witness its largest-ever participation, with more than 40 countries sending their warships/high-level delegations.
- MILAN 22 will also host an International Maritime Seminar with the theme – ‘Harnessing Collective Maritime Competence through Collaboration’ on 27-28 February.

EXERCISE COBRA WARRIOR 2022

IAF will participate in a multi-nation air exercise named ‘Ex Cobra Warrior 22’ at Waddington, the UK from 06 to 27 March 2022.
IAF LCA Tejas will participate in the exercise along with fighter aircraft of the UK and other leading Air Forces.
The exercise is aimed at providing operational exposure and share best practices amongst the participating Air Forces, thereby enhancing combat capability and forging bonds of friendship.

Three More Rafale Fighter Aircraft Arrived in India

Three more Rafale fighter aircraft arrived in India on Tuesday evening after taking off from France.
The Rs 60,000 crore contract b/w India & France for 36 Rafale fighter jets is now nearing completion as only one aircraft is left to be inducted into the IAF.
With the arrival of these three planes, India has now received 35 of the 36 Rafales for which it had signed a contract with France in September 2016. The 36th aircraft will arrive in India from France by March-end or April first week.

DRDO, IIT Delhi Scientists Demonstrate Quantum Key

DRDO and IIT Delhi, for the first time in the country successfully demonstrated Quantum Key Distribution link between Prayagraj and Vindhyachal in Uttar Pradesh, a distance of more than 100 kilometers.
With this success, the country has demonstrated indigenous technology of secure key transfer for bootstrapping military-grade communication security key hierarchy.
This technology will enable security agencies to plan a suitable quantum communication network with indigenous technology backbone.
Quantum key distribution is a secure communication method that implements a cryptographic protocol involving components of quantum mechanics.
It enables two parties to produce a shared random secret key known only to them, which can then be used to encrypt and decrypt messages.

Schools Bands to Start Performing At NWM

School bands will start performing at the National War Memorial in New Delhi on a regular rotation basis from February 23, 2022.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi had dedicated the NWM to the nation on February 25, 2019. To celebrate the third anniversary, the Ministry of Defence, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, took a decision on school band performances at NWM.
The Ministry of Education has also requested the Education Departments of all States/Union Territories to select one band from the schools of their respective states to perform in coordination with Directorate of National War Memorial & Museum, Headquarter Integrated Defence Staff (NWM&M, HQ IDS), as a part of regular schedule. The CBSE is coordinating with all the schools in coordination with Ministry of Defence.
The objective of this initiative is to inculcate the values of patriotism, devotion to duty, courage and sacrifice among the school children and increase the participation of people, especially the youth, so that they experience the various facets associated with the iconic war memorial.
