Yog Prabha – Mega Event Organized

  • The Ministry of Civil Aviation today organized a mega event- Yog Prabha at Safdarjung Airport in New Delhi. The event was inaugurated by Union Minister of Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia and the Minister of State for Civil Aviation Dr. V.K. Singh.
  • Over 900 officials participated in this mega event. Yoga instructors from Morarji Desai Institute of Yoga guided the participants in performing various Yog, Asana and Pranayama techniques.
  • At the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the United Nations General Assembly took a historic decision in 2014 to declare 21st June as the International Day of Yoga.
  • The Ministry of Civil Aviation said, Yog Prabha will help in creating awareness among the participants about the importance of Yoga and will motivate others to do Yoga daily.

Unnat Bharat Abhiyan 2.0 Completes Four Years

  • Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, UBA  2.0 has completed four years. 25.04.2018, the  UBA 2.0 was launched with the vision of transformational change in rural development processes.
  • Unnat Bharat Abhiyan is a flagship program of the Education Ministry that aims to link the Higher Education Institutions with a set of at least five villages so that these institutions can contribute to the economic and social betterment of these village communities using their knowledge base.
  • Its objective is also to engage the faculty and students of Higher Educational Institutions in understanding rural realities.
  • Currently, 748 Institutions are participating under the scheme. In phase -2 of the scheme, 605 institutions have been selected. Out of these 313 are Technical Institutions and 292 are Non-Technical Institutions.

‘Kisan Bhagidari, Prathmikta Hamari’ Campaign

  • Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare is organizing the ‘Kisan Bhagidari, Prathmikta Hamari’ campaign from today.
  • The campaign which will continue till the 30th of this month is being organized under ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ in association with various other Ministries and Departments.
  • The Department of Agriculture Research and Education would be organizing a Krishi Mela at each Krishi Vigyan Kendra and a field exhibition on natural farming.
  • Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar will launch the country-wide workshop on crop insurance organized by the common service center (CSC). A National Atma Nirbhar Bharat Conclave of 75 selected farmers and entrepreneurs will be under the campaign.
  • Milestones of agriculture development in 75 years of Indian Independence including Green Revolution: Self-sufficiency in food grain production will be highlighted during the campaign.
  • More than one crore farmers and stakeholders are expected to participate in the Kisan Bhagidari, Prathmikta Hamari campaign.

7th Edition Of Raisina Dialogue

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurate the seventh edition of the Raisina Dialogue in New Delhi today. President of the European Commission Ursula Von Der Leyen will be the chief guest at the Dialogue. Several former Prime Ministers of different countries and other dignitaries will also participate in the event.
  • The three-day Dialogue is based on the theme – Terranova, impassioned, impatient, imperiled. There are six broad thematic pillars of the Dialogue including Rethinking Democracy, End of Multilateralism, Water Caucuses, and Achieving Green Transitions. Raisina Dialogue will have around 100 sessions with over 210 speakers from 90 countries.
  •  Last year, the Dialogue was held in a virtual format due to exceptional circumstances necessitated by the Covid-19 pandemic. This year, the Dialogue is being held in an ‘in-person’ format. The organizers have taken all necessary measures to adhere to Covid-19 health protocols to ensure the safe conduct of the Dialogue.

PM Modi Holds Talks With Ursula Von Der Leyen

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi held talks with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in New Delhi today. Both the leaders reviewed progress in the vibrant India-EU strategic partnership and agreed to deepen cooperation in areas of trade, climate, digital technology and people-to-people ties.
  • Earlier, External Affairs minister Dr S Jaishankar called on Ms Leyen. Both of them discussed taking forward India-EU partnership. They exchanged views on the economic and political implications of the Ukraine conflict. Ms Leyen said strengthening the partnership is a key priority for this decade. She also highlighted that India-EU will step up cooperation in trade, technology and security. Ms Leyen informed that India and EU to launch the EU-India Trade and Technology Council.
  • The Trade and Technology council will provide the political steer and the necessary structure to operationalise political decisions, coordinate technical work and report to the political level to ensure implementation and follow-up in areas that are important for the sustainable progress of European and Indian economies.

150th Birth Anniversary Of Sri Aurobindo

  • Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that if someone needs to know the spirit of the nation, the soul of the nation, he needs to read the writings of Sri Aurobindo.
  • Addressing the gathering on the inaugural function of the 150th Birth anniversary of Sri Aurobindo in Puducherry today, the Home Minister lauded the efforts of the Sri Aurobindo society for the upliftment of the country. He also said the youth of the nation and the farmers should be taken care of.
  • Mr. Shah said, when Sri Aurobindo was 75 years old, the nation got its independence, and when his 150th birth anniversary is celebrated, the nation is celebrating its 75 years of independence.
  • Sri Aurobindo (born Aurobindo Ghose; 15 August 1872 – 5 December 1950) was an Indian philosopher, yoga guru, maharishi, poet, and Indian nationalist.
  • He was also a journalist, editing newspapers such as Vande Mataram.
  • He joined the Indian movement for independence from British colonial rule, until 1910 was one of its influential leaders and then became a spiritual reformer, introducing his visions on human progress and spiritual evolution.

I&B Ministry Advisory For Private TV News Channels

  • Information and Broadcasting Ministry has advised private TV news channels against making false claims and using scandalous headlines. In a detailed advisory, the Ministry has called for adherence to the provisions of The Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act.
  • The Ministry said, in the recent past, several Satellite TV channels have carried out coverage of events and incidents in a manner which appears to be unauthentic, misleading, sensational and using socially unacceptable language and remarks.
  • The advisory has cited the Ukraine-Russian conflict and the incidence in North-West Delhi in particular where TV news content and debates have been found in violation of Programme Code.
  • In the case of reporting on Ukraine-Russia conflict, the Ministry has found channels are making scandalous headlines unrelated to the news item and journalists making unsubstantiated and fabricated claims and using hyperbole to incite audience.
  • The Ministry said, in case of Delhi violence, certain channels have aired news items with provocative headlines and videos of violence that may incite communal hatred among the communities and disrupt peace and law and order. The channels have further fabricated headlines giving communal colour to actions of authorities.
  • The Ministry has cautioned private TV channels against broadcasting debates having unparliamentary, provocative and socially unacceptable language, communal remarks and derogatory references which may incite communal disharmony and disturb the peace at large
  • Talking to reporters, Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur said that the Ministry has also issued notices to the TV channels found reporting misleading and unauthentic news.

Emmanuel Macron Re-elected

  • Emmanuel Macron has won a second term in France’s presidential election with 58.2 per cent of the vote. Macron’s far-right challenger Marine Le Pen won 41.8 per cent of the vote in an election that saw the country’s highest abstention rate in 50 years.
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Emmanuel Macron . In a tweet, Mr Modi said that he looks forward to continuing working together to deepen the India-France Strategic Partnership.
