CJI Launched The Digital Platform “FASTER”

  • FASTER (Fast and Secured Transmission of Electronic Records) is a digital platform to communicate interim orders, stay orders, bail orders, etc., of the Supreme Court to authorities concerned through a secured electronic communication channel.

  • Prevent Unnecessary Arrests
  • Ensure Fundamental Rights of Prisoners Are Upheld
  • Other SC Initiatives:
  •  Artificial Intelligence (AI) based portal ‘SUPACE’ in the judicial system aimed at assisting judges with legal research.
  • eCourts Mission Mode Project is a pan-India Project, to provide designated services to litigants, lawyers, and the judiciary through ICT enablement of courts.

Traditional New Year Festivals

  • Recently Chaitra Sukladi, Ugadi, Gudi Padwa, Cheti Chand, Navreh, And Sajibu Cheiraoba Were Celebrated Across Different Regions Of India.
  • These Festivals Of The Spring Season Mark The Beginning Of The Traditional New Year In India.
  • Chaitra Sukladi: It marks the beginning of the new year of the Vikram Samvat also known as the Vedic [Hindu] calendar.
  • Gudi Padwa and Ugadi: These festivals are celebrated by the people in the Deccan region including Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Maharashtra.
  • Cheti Chand: Sindhis celebrate the new year as Cheti Chand. Chaitra month is called ‘Chet’ in Sindhi.
  • Navreh: It is the lunar new year that is celebrated in Kashmir.
  • Sajibu Cheiraoba: It is the great ritual festival of Meiteis (an ethnic group in Manipur) which is observed on the first day of Manipur lunar month Shajibu, which falls in the month of April every year.

Rupay Launched In Nepal

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Nepalese counterpart Sher Bahadur Deuba held delegation-level talks in New Delhi.
  • During the talks, the two leaders reviewed the progress in the India-Nepal partnership and discussed ways to further their cooperation agenda. Prime Minister Modi and Nepalese Prime Minister Deuba jointly launched several projects on the occasion.
  • They flagged off the 35-kilometer long cross-border passenger train services between Jaynagar of Bihar in India and Kurtha in Nepal.
  • Both the leaders also jointly inaugurated the Solu Corridor 132 kV Power Transmission Line and Substation in Nepal built under the Government of India’s Line of Credit.
  • The two Prime Ministers launched RuPay Card in Nepal.
  • Following the talks, four MoUs were signed in the presence of both Prime Ministers.
  • Priority To Trade And Cross-border Connectivity Initiatives In All Respects. Stressed The Need To Further Strengthen The Cooperation Between The Defence And Security Institutions Of The Two Countries.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov Visits India

  • The Foreign Minister of Russia Sergei Lavrov called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi yesterday. Mr. Lavrov briefed the Prime Minister on the situation in Ukraine, including the ongoing peace negotiations.
  • The Prime Minister reiterated his call for early cessation of violence and conveyed India’s readiness to contribute in any way to the peace efforts. The Russian Foreign Minister also updated Mr. Modi on the progress of decisions taken during the India-Russia bilateral Summit held in December last year.
  • Earlier, the External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar held talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in New Delhi. Mr. Lavrov arrived last evening on a two-day visit to India. The two Ministers also discussed developments in Ukraine. Mr. Lavrov briefed the Indian side on Russia’s perspective, including the ongoing talks. In his opening remarks before the meeting, Dr. Jaishankar emphasized the importance of cessation of violence and ending hostilities.
