Operation Upalabdh: RPF

  • Railway Protection Force (RPF) Conducted A Pan India Drive Against The Alleged Black Marketeers Under Operation Upalabdh.
  • The Month-long Drive Under Operation Upalabdh Has Been Able To Curb The Activities Of Touts Substantially And Make Railway Tickets Available To The Common Man.
  • Earlier In February 2022, The RPF Had Launched A Nationwide Operation To Curb Human Trafficking Named Operation AAHT.

Babu Jagjivan Ram Remembered On His Jayanthi

  • Jagjivan Ram (5 April 1908 – 6 July 1986), known popularly as Babuji, was an Indian independence activist and politician from Bihar. He was instrumental in the foundation of the All-India Depressed Classes League, an organization dedicated to attaining equality for untouchables, in 1935 and was elected to the Bihar Legislative Assembly in 1937, after which he organized the rural labor movement.
  • In 1946, he became the youngest minister in Jawaharlal Nehru’s interim government, the first cabinet of India as a Labour Minister, and a member of the Constituent Assembly of India, where he ensured that social justice was enshrined in the Constitution.

International Day For Mine Awareness

  • The United Nations’ International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action is celebrated every year on the 4th of April. The day aims to raise awareness about landmines and progress toward their eradication. “Mine action” refers to a range of efforts to clear landmines and explosive remnants of war and to mark and fence off dangerous areas.
  • In 2022 the United Nations Mine Action Service marks the Day under the theme “Safe Ground, Safe Steps, Safe Home.” The focus of the observance is on the impressive achievements of the global mine action community, starting with the work of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines (ICBL).
  • On 8 December 2005, the General Assembly declared that 4 April of each year shall be observed as the International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action. It was first observed on 4 April 2006.

International Day Of Conscience

  • The International Day Of Conscience Is A Global Day Of Awareness Celebrated On April 5, Commemorating The Importance Of The Human Conscience.
  • It Was Established By The UNGA On July 25, 2019. The First International Day Of Conscience Was Celebrated On April 5, 2020.
  • Theme 2022: “Promoting the Culture of Peace with Love and Conscience”
  • Human Conscience  is that part of your mind that tells you if what you are doing is right or wrong.

International Day Of Sport For Development And Peace

  • The International Day of Sport for Development and Peace (IDSDP) is an annual celebration of the power of sport to drive social change, and community development and foster peace and understanding.
  • Created by the United Nations General Assembly on 23 August 2013, supported by the International Olympic Committee since 6 April 2014.
  • This date commemorates the inauguration, in 1896, of the first Olympic Games of the modern era, in Athens, (Greece).
  • Theme 2022: “Securing a Sustainable and Peaceful Future for All: The Contribution of Sport”.

Rwanda Genocide Remembrance Day

  • The International Day of Reflection on the 1994 Rwandan Genocide was recognized as an international observance by the United Nations on April 7, 2004. Commemorative events for the Rwandan genocide.
  • The Rwandan genocide occurred between 7 April and 15 July 1994 during the Rwandan Civil War. During this period of around 100 days, members of the Tutsi minority ethnic group, as well as some moderate Hutu and Twa, were killed by armed militias. The most widely accepted scholarly estimates are around 500,000 to 662,000 Tutsi deaths.

World Health Day

  • World Health Day Is A Global Health Awareness Day Celebrated Every Year On 7 April, Under The Sponsorship Of The World Health Organization (WHO), As Well As Other Related Organizations.
  • In 1948, The Who Held The First World Health Assembly. The Assembly Decided To Celebrate 7 April Of Each Year, With Effect From 1950, As The World Health Day. World Health Day Is Held To Mark its Founding And Is Seen As An Opportunity By The Organization To Draw Worldwide Attention To A Subject Of Major Importance To Global Health Each Year.

National Maritime Day

  • April 5 is celebrated as National Maritime Day across the country and is dedicated to the role of maritime trade in the development of the Indian economy and the role of India and its strategic location in global trade.
  • National Maritime Day was first celebrated on April 5, 1964. The saga of Indian shipping first started on April 5, 1919, when the SS Loyalty, the first ship of The Scindia Steam Navigation Company Ltd traveled from Mumbai to the United Kingdom (London). On this day an award called “Varuna” is conferred to those who made an outstanding contribution to the Indian maritime sector.
  • The theme of National Maritime Day 2022 is ‘Sustainable Shipping beyond Covid-19’.

6th Anniversary Of Stand-up India

  • Stand-Up India was launched by the Government of India on 5 April 2016 to support entrepreneurship among women and SC & ST communities.
  • It is like but distinct from Startup India. Both are enablers and beneficiaries of other key Government of India schemes, such as Make in India, Industrial corridor, Dedicated Freight Corridor, Sagarmala, Bharatmala, UDAN-RCS, Digital India, BharatNet and UMANG.
  • The scheme offers bank loans of between ₹10 lakh (US$13,000) and ₹1 crore (US$130,000) for scheduled castes and scheduled tribes and women setting up new enterprises outside of the farm sector.
