Farhan Akhtar’s acclaimed film ‘Lakshya’ recently marked its 20th anniversary. The movie, which follows a man from Delhi who joins the Indian Army and fights in the Kargil War, has left a lasting impression on audiences. New Film in the Works
Speaking at the Pinkvilla Masterclass, Akhtar announced that Excel Entertainment is already developing the new project. He shared that an official announcement would be made within the next few weeks. “We are in the process of putting one such film together,” Akhtar stated. “I would imagine that within a very short period of time, I would say at the most a couple of weeks, we will probably make some kind of announcement regarding that film. But it is feeling really good to kind of go back and revisit mentally and emotionally, that same phase. So, I am looking forward to it.”

‘Lakshya’s’ Legacy and Recognition
During the same conversation, Ritesh Sidhwani, co-founder of Excel Entertainment, recalled the recognition ‘Lakshya’ received from the Indian Army. He mentioned that General N.C. Vij, the then Chief of Army Staff, granted the team permission to shoot the film and later presented personalized awards to Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar, and himself.
Sidhwani reflected on this honor, saying, “The chief of the army, I remember at that time was General Vij, who gave us the permission to shoot the film and did everything for it. I remember after the film was made, he personally gave Hrithik, Farhan, and me, these personal kind of awards that they had won, and it is there in my room even today. That itself means that we have done something right. He told us this personally that there is no film ever made which was perfect and depicted the army in its correct light.”
Upcoming Projects
In addition to this new venture, Farhan Akhtar is currently working on ‘Don 3,’ which will feature Ranveer Singh and Kiara Advani in the lead roles.
