Lt Gen Sadhna S Nair, AVSM, VSM, the Director General Medical Services (Army) and Senior Colonel Commandant, visited Command Hospital Air Force Bangalore (CHAFB) today, reinforcing her role as the first woman to hold this prestigious position. This visit underscores the Indian Armed Forces’ ongoing commitment to enhancing healthcare services for serving personnel, veterans, and their families.
During her tour, Lt Gen Nair was briefed on the ambitious Modern Multistory Hospital Complex project, designed to significantly increase the hospital’s capacity to provide advanced medical care. This infrastructure initiative is part of a larger vision to improve the healthcare framework available to military personnel.
Additionally, she observed the Emergency Medical Response System (EMRS) in operation. This system, which was inaugurated by Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal V.R. Chaudhari on May 22, 2024, is critical for delivering expert guidance and definitive care during medical emergencies affecting Indian Air Force personnel and their families nationwide.
Lt Gen Nair engaged in discussions with officers at CHAFB, commending the facility’s comprehensive healthcare ecosystem. She praised the hospital’s dedication to delivering high-quality medical services and its preparedness to address the needs of the armed forces community effectively.
The General Officer’s visit emphasized the vital role of inter-service collaboration in enhancing the medical support framework for the military. By fostering partnerships among the different branches, the healthcare services are expected to see significant improvements.
