Danish and Ukrainian Companies Collaborate on Electromagnetic Spectrum Monitoring Technology

A groundbreaking partnership has emerged between Danish firm Quadsat and Ukrainian company Skyeton, focusing on the enhancement of electromagnetic spectrum monitoring capabilities. This collaboration combines Quadsat’s advanced radio frequency payload and spectrum monitoring technology with Skyeton’s Raybird fixed-wing unmanned aerial system (UAS), which has already demonstrated its operational effectiveness in Ukraine.

The integrated system is designed to bolster real-time electromagnetic intelligence, improve situational awareness, and enhance threat detection capabilities in contested environments. This advancement is particularly relevant for military and security applications, where timely and accurate information is crucial.

Skyeton’s Raybird system, which supports long-duration operations, boasts remarkable specifications. It can remain airborne for up to 28 hours, cover a distance of 2,500 kilometers (approximately 1,550 miles), and ascend to altitudes of up to 4,500 meters (14,760 feet). The UAS can carry payloads weighing up to 5 kilograms (11 pounds), which may include advanced technologies like synthetic aperture radar and laser target designators.

A standout feature of the Raybird is its flexibility; the payloads can be swapped or reconfigured in about one minute to adapt to varied mission requirements. This versatility is complemented by the system’s automatic takeoff and landing capabilities, which are facilitated through a mechanical catapult launch. This design allows for deployment even from uneven terrain and in strong winds, scenarios where vertical takeoff systems might struggle.

Pavlo Shevchuk, International CEO of Skyeton, commented on the significance of the partnership, stating, “This partnership marks a significant step forward in expanding the capabilities of our Raybird UAS. By integrating Quadsat’s cutting-edge RF technology, we are equipping our platform with an advanced spectrum monitoring tool that is essential for modern operational environments.”

This collaboration between Quadsat and Skyeton represents a strategic move to enhance the operational capabilities of unmanned aerial systems in complex environments, paving the way for more effective intelligence-gathering and situational awareness in critical scenarios.
