DRDO to Showcase India’s Defence Innovations at Paris Air Show 2025

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is preparing to showcase India’s advanced aerospace and defence technologies at the upcoming Paris Air Show 2025, an event that highlights the nation’s increasing role as a global innovator in the defence sector. In a recent announcement shared on social media, DRDO emphasized its participation as a testament to India’s focus on self-reliance, strategic capabilities, and international partnerships.

Scheduled to take place from June 16 to 22 at Le Bourget, France, the show will feature a wide array of indigenous advancements, including next-generation unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), cutting-edge avionics, and various homegrown defence systems. Among the key exhibits is the Astra Beyond-Visual-Range (BVR) air-to-air missile, engineered to engage fast-moving, supersonic targets in diverse weather conditions. This missile system, integrated with the Indian Air Force’s SU-30 Mk-I aircraft, significantly enhances India’s aerial combat readiness.

The Tejas Mk-2, an upgraded variant of the indigenous Light Combat Aircraft developed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), will also be on display, demonstrating India’s strides in advanced fighter jet manufacturing. Another prominent exhibit is the Weapon Locating Radar (WLR) ‘Swathi’, a collaborative effort with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), capable of accurately identifying and tracking enemy artillery fire.

In addition, DRDO will present its Airborne Early Warning & Control System (AEW&C), designed to detect and monitor enemy aircraft and UAVs, which provides a critical advantage on the battlefield. The exhibit will also feature HELINA, a third-generation “fire-and-forget” anti-tank guided missile, showcasing India’s expertise in precision strike capabilities.

Enhancements to the Dornier aircraft, under the SHYEN project, will further illustrate DRDO’s commitment to improving mission performance through enhanced payload integration and mid-life avionics upgrades.

DRDO’s involvement in the Paris Air Show is a significant milestone in India’s global defence diplomacy, reinforcing the nation’s commitment to self-reliance in line with the ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative. The event presents a strategic platform for India to engage in defence cooperation, technology exchange, and industrial partnerships with leading international players in the aerospace and defence sectors.
