In a landmark ceremony filled with military tradition, Lieutenant General A V S Rathee has officially taken command of the Konark Corps, a key formation within the Indian Army, celebrated for its expertise in desert warfare. The handover took place on June 16 at the corps headquarters in Jodhpur, marking a significant moment in the unit’s prestigious history.
Established in January 1987 under the Southern Command, the Konark Corps has been instrumental in protecting India’s western front. Its insignia, which draws inspiration from the iconic Konark Sun Temple, symbolizes unwavering strength and an extensive reach, asserting its strategic influence across all eight cardinal directions.
Brigadier Hardeep Singh Sohi (Retd.), a distinguished veteran and recipient of the Shaurya Chakra, offered heartfelt congratulations to Lt Gen Rathee, recognizing the substantial responsibilities that come with this command.
