Lieutenant General Manoj Kumar Katiyar, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Indian Army’s Western Command, undertook a comprehensive review of operational and logistical preparedness at the Kalka Military Station. This inspection underscores the army’s commitment to enhancing its capabilities in response to the evolving security challenges along the western front.
During his visit, Lt Gen Katiyar expressed appreciation for the critical role played by logistic units in the successful execution of Operation Sindoor. This operation, conducted in May 2025, was a precision strike aimed at dismantling terrorist infrastructure across the border and was hailed for its tactical and strategic success. The operation illustrated India’s ability to respond swiftly and effectively to security threats.
Taking command of the Western Army in July 2023, Lt Gen Katiyar previously commanded the Strike Corps and has been recognized for his operational expertise. His leadership has been pivotal in advancing the Western Command’s initiatives for preparedness and modernization.
