Exercise Bold Kurukshetra 2025
The 14th edition of the India–Singapore Joint Military Exercise, Exercise Bold Kurukshetra 2025, is commenced at Jodhpur and will continue till 04 August 2025. The exercise will witness the participation of the 42 Singapore Armoured Regiment of the 4 Singapore Armoured Brigade and the Indian Army’s Mechanised Infantry Regiment.
The exercise will be conducted as a Table Top Exercise and Computer-Based Wargame, aimed at validating operational procedures for mechanised warfare. It will culminate in an equipment display by the Indian Army. Exercise Bold Kurukshetra 2025 will further consolidate the strong defence ties between India and Singapore and foster greater mutual understanding and collaboration at both tactical and strategic levels.
India-Singapore Ties
The more modern relationship is attributed to Sir Stamford Raffles who, in 1819, established a trading station in Singapore on the route of the Straits of Malacca which later became a crown colony and governed from Kolkata till 1867. After independence, India was one of the first countries to recognize Singapore in 1965.
Singapore is among India’s largest trade and investment partners in ASEAN and accounted for 27.3 % of our overall trade with ASEAN in 2021-22.
Singapore is also the leading source of Foreign Direct Investment into India. The Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA) between India and Singapore was signed in 2005.
India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and Singapore’s Pay Now have been integrated in February 2023 to enable faster Remittances between the two countries. They have also signed several agreements to enhance their defence ties, such as the Defence Cooperation Agreement (2003) and the Naval Cooperation Agreement (2017).
