Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Northern Command, provided a briefing to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha regarding the successful completion of Operation Mahadev. He was joined by Lieutenant General Prashant Srivastava, the General Officer Commanding of the 15 Corps.
During this significant meeting, the Lieutenant Governor expressed his appreciation for the collaborative efforts of the Indian Army, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and the Jammu & Kashmir Police. Their joint operations led to the neutralization of three Pakistani terrorists believed to be involved in the terror attack in Pahalgam in April 2025, which tragically resulted in the deaths of 26 civilians.
Lt. Gen. Sharma highlighted that the operation was the culmination of extensive search efforts undertaken over the past several months in South Kashmir, particularly focusing on the dense Dachigam forest. Intelligence agencies had consistently reported the presence of terrorists in the area, which necessitated the formation of specialized joint teams to tackle this threat.
The mission was initiated based on specific intelligence that guided the Army, J&K Police, and CRPF into a high-risk operation deep into the forested terrain. Ultimately, this operation concluded successfully with the elimination of all three terrorists, including a key suspect believed to be the mastermind behind the Pahalgam attack.
The Lieutenant Governor commended the effective collaboration among various security forces and intelligence agencies involved. He emphasized that Operation Mahadev sends a powerful message against cross-border terrorism and is a vital step towards restoring peace in the Kashmir Valley.
