Elbit Systems Secures $260 Million in Contracts for Advanced Airborne Munitions with Israel’s Defense Ministry

Elbit Systems, headquartered in Haifa, has secured two significant contracts valued at $260 million with the Israeli Ministry of Defense. While specific details regarding the munitions included in these agreements remain undisclosed, the company’s extensive portfolio features several key airborne munitions.

Among its flagship products are the GATR laser-guided 70-millimeter rock and the MPR500 precision-guided rocket, both designed to operate with existing launch platforms. Additionally, Elbit offers the PULS artillery rocket system, renowned for its ability to launch various types of ammunition with high precision, alongside the Rampage long-range air-to-surface missile and the SkyStriker loitering munition, which is engineered to target and neutralize high-value adversaries.

Historically, Elbit has made notable contributions to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), including the Iron Sting 120-millimeter guided mortar equipped with both laser and GPS guidance systems tailored for urban combat. The company has also developed the Lizard 3 bomb kit, which transforms conventional munitions into laser-guided precision weapons, as well as the versatile SPICE family of air-to-surface guided bombs designed for precision standoff strikes.

Bezhalel Machlis, CEO of Elbit Systems, highlighted the company’s commitment to bolstering the operational readiness of the IDF. He remarked, “These new contracts underscore our commitment to delivering cutting-edge technologies that meet the evolving needs of Israel’s defense forces.” Machlis expressed confidence that the newly developed products would garner interest from military organizations globally, given their alignment with contemporary operational requirements.

In a broader context, Elbit’s recent activities are not limited to domestic contracts. Just days before finalizing the deals with Israel, the company announced a staggering $1.6 billion agreement to provide a European nation with advanced defense systems featuring artificial intelligence capabilities. This ambitious project, set to unfold over the next five years, encompasses an array of equipment including long-range precision artillery, rocket systems, unmanned aerial vehicles, communication intelligence tools, electronic warfare technology, and sophisticated intelligence collection systems interconnected within a digital combat network.

Local reports have confirmed that the recipient of this substantial contract is Serbia. Prior to this latest engagement, Serbia had also partnered with Elbit under a previously established $335 million package, which included PULS rocket systems and Hermes 900 reconnaissance unmanned aerial systems.

With these contracts, Elbit Systems continues to solidify its position as a key player in the global defense market, expanding its reach through innovative technology and strategic international partnerships.
