Indian Navy Commissions Ins Aravali

  • INS Aravali, Indian Navy’s latest Naval Base, was commissioned at Gurugram in presence of Adm DineGuided by the motto ‘सामुद्रिकसुरक्षायाः सहयोगं or ‘Maritime Security through Collaboration’, the Naval Base exemplifies supportive and collaborative ethos, working seamlessly with naval units, MDA centres and allied stakeholders.

4th Coast Guard Global Summit in Rome

  • In the 4th Coast Guard Global Summit (CGGS) held in Rome, Italy, from September 11-12, 2025, the ICG reaffirmed India’s commitment to strengthening global maritime governance and positioning ICG as a key partner in shaping the agenda for safer, cleaner, and more secure seas.
  • Director General ICG Paramesh Sivamani delivered a lecture titled ‘Guardians Against the Blaze: ICG’s Tactical Response to Fire Emergencies’, showcasing India’s expertise and constructive role in advancing maritime safety and security.
  • ICG also announced its intent to bid for the Presidency of the 5th CGGS, planned to be hosted in India in 2027.
  • The summit attended by delegates from 115 countries and international organisations was co-chaired by Italy & Japan and emphasised on collective approaches to safeguarding the global ocean environment.
  • First convened in 2017 by the Japan Coast Guard and the Nippon Foundation, the CGGS has evolved into a vital mechanism for dialogue and confidence-building.

India-Norway Launch First-ever Dialogue

  • India and Norway held their first-ever Maritime Security, Disarmament, and Non-Proliferation Dialogue on Friday in Oslo, the Ministry of External Affairs stated.
  • Further, the ministry stated that the two sides conferred on ways to sustain a secure and safe maritime environment in accordance with international law, including UNCLOS, conducive to economic growth, peace and progress in maritime matters.
  • They also reviewed ongoing cooperation initiatives in the maritime domain and avenues of reinforcing international and regional mechanisms for comprehensive maritime security.

Godrej Enterprises to Manufacture LEAP Engine

  • Godrej Enterprises Group’s aerospace business on Friday said it has secured a mandate to manufacture critical LEAP engine components for Safran Aircraft Engines as part of a five-year contract.
  • LEAP engines are manufactured by CFM International, a joint venture between GE Aerospace and Safran Aircraft Engines. These engines largely power next-generation narrow-body aircraft.
  • Under the contract, GEG will develop titanium material-based complex ventilation assemblies for LEAP engines, it said, adding the production will involve complex machining, precision welding, and advanced non-destructive testing to meet the stringent standards of civil aviation.
  • With this new mandate, the company further consolidates its position as a major global supplier for high-precision aerospace components, Godrej Enterprises Group said.

IAF’s Proposal for Buying 114 ‘Made in India’ Rafale

  • The Defence Ministry has received and started discussions on the proposal from the IAF for acquiring 114 ‘Made in India’ Rafale fighter jets, which would be built by the French firm Dassault Aviation involving Indian aerospace firms.
  • The proposal, expected to be worth over Rs 2 lakh crore, including the indigenous content of more than 60 per cent, is expected to be taken up for discussion by the Defence Procurement Board headed by the Defence Secretary in the next few weeks.
  • The defence project, once completed, would be the biggest ever defence deal to have been signed by the Indian government.
