General Anil Chauhan, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) of the Indian Armed Forces, recently visited the Trishakti Corps at Sukhna Military Station to assess ongoing capability development projects. Taking place on September 18, 2025, this visit is emblematic of the Indian Army’s commitment to enhancing operational readiness during the designated “Year of Reforms.”
During his visit, the General Officer Commanding of the Trishakti Corps provided a comprehensive briefing on the formation’s operational capabilities and the innovative efforts being implemented as part of the reform agenda. General Chauhan praised the corps for its outstanding contributions to national security, especially in the strategically significant northeastern region of India. He took the opportunity to recognize and felicitate personnel who have displayed exceptional dedication and service.
The visit included an exhaustive review of various capability development projects aimed at modernizing the Indian Armed Forces. The Trishakti Corps, which is headquartered in Sukna, Siliguri, North Bengal, has played a crucial role in India’s defense strategy since its re-establishment in 1960. This visit also comes on the heels of increased military focus following the China-India border skirmishes of 2020-2021, which necessitated substantial infrastructure improvements and troop deployments along the Line of Actual Control.
General Chauhan, who was appointed as CDS in September 2022 after the loss of General Bipin Rawat, has a wealth of experience, notably from his tenure as Eastern Army Commander. This background has positioned him as a vital architect of military transformation within the Indian Armed Forces.
The strategic focus of the Indian military continues to prioritize technology absorption and operational self-reliance. Efforts are in full swing to partner with academic institutions, startups, and industry players to accelerate innovation in military capabilities. General Chauhan’s visit reaffirms the nation’s commitment to bolstering its defense mechanisms, marking a pivotal step in the ongoing journey toward military modernization and reform.
