COAS Getting to Know About New Technology

At the ongoing Tri-Services Academia Technology Symposium (T-SATS), General Upendra Dwivedi, the Chief of the Army Staff, highlighted the pressing need for investment in niche technologies and the significant potential for collaboration between academia and the military to address the challenges of future warfare.

In a notable announcement, General Dwivedi revealed that the newly launched T-SATS portal has already seen the submission of over 450 research proposals. He noted that nearly 40% of these proposals have been shortlisted for further examination and guidance by Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), marking a promising start to the initiative.

The Army Chief emphasized the critical role of building technology clusters, encouraging the establishment of defence incubation cells across the nation, and promoting internships for students in the defence sector. These steps, he believes, will create a robust ecosystem of innovation that is essential for meeting evolving military demands.

General Dwivedi called for enhanced cooperation between academia, startups, and the defence sector, urging these entities to collaboratively develop indigenous solutions specifically tailored to operational needs. He stressed that fostering innovation on a large scale, backed by a structured approach to collaboration, is vital for maintaining India’s technological supremacy in an increasingly turbulent security landscape.
