Colorado-based Radia Inc. has announced an innovative redesign of its WindRunner cargo plane, aiming to enhance its capabilities by enabling the airlift of military assets, including fighter jets and Apache helicopters, for U.S. forces. The new concept, referred to as WindRunner for Defense, is engineered to provide significant heavy-lift capacity, specifically tailored for rugged environments, aligning with the Pentagon’s Agile Combat Employment (ACE) strategy.
In a statement from Radia founder Mark Lundstrom, the company emphasized the importance of strategic mobility in military operations, noting that it “buys time and space for the force.” The WindRunner is designed for operational efficiency, allowing for the transport of complete systems without disassembly.
