In a significant escalation of rhetoric, India has issued a firm warning to Pakistan regarding its continuous support for terrorism. Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi asserted that Pakistan must immediately cease its backing of terror networks, or it risks losing its territorial integrity.
Addressing soldiers at an army post in Anupgarh, Rajasthan, General Dwivedi made it clear that any future military responses would not be characterized by the restraint exhibited during Operation Sindoor in May. He stated, “This time we will not maintain the restraint that we had in Operation Sindoor 1.0. This time we will do something that will make Pakistan think whether it wants to retain its place in geography or not.” His comments reflect a firm commitment to a more aggressive posture should Pakistani provocations continue.
General Dwivedi urged his troops to remain vigilant and prepared, hinting at possible action in the near term. “If God wills, you’ll get an opportunity soon. All the best,” he added, reinforcing a sense of readiness among the ranks.
The backdrop to these statements includes Operation Sindoor, which was launched in May 2025 as a retaliatory measure following the Pahalgam terror attack. This operation resulted in strikes against nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, utilizing long-range precision weapons. The operation was deemed effective, reportedly destroying significant infrastructure without civilian or military casualties. During the operation, Indian Air Forces engaged and claimed to have downed several Pakistani fighter jets, including F-16s and JF-17s.
In light of these developments, India showcased its evidence of destroyed terror facilities to the international community, undermining Pakistan’s ability to deny the consequences of its actions.
The event in Anupgarh also served as a platform to honor bravery, as three officers were recognized for their exceptional contributions during Operation Sindoor. This included BSF 140th Battalion Commandant Prabhakar Singh, Rajputana Rifles Major Ritesh Kumar, and Havildar Mohit Gaira.
General Dwivedi’s remarks signal India’s uncompromising stance on cross-border terrorism and mark an increase in alertness along its western border. This warning not only solidifies India’s military resolve but also reinforces the gravity with which it perceives the threat posed by terrorism emanating from Pakistan.
