Major General Anurag Vij has recently been appointed as the Additional Director General (ADG) of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Directorate for the North Eastern Region. This significant role will involve overseeing youth development and leadership training initiatives within the world’s largest uniformed youth organization, which spans eight states in the Northeast.
### A Distinguished Military Career
Commissioned into the esteemed Regiment of Artillery in 1990, Major General Vij is an alumnus of several prestigious military training institutions, including the National Defence Academy (NDA) in Khadakwasla, the Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun, the Defence Services Staff College (DSSC) in Wellington, and the College of Defence Management (CDM) in Secunderabad.
With a military career that spans over 35 years, he has served in the Indian Army with remarkable distinction. Major General Vij has held numerous key positions in command, staff, and instructional roles throughout the country, reflecting his unwavering commitment to operational excellence, leadership, and mentorship.
### Leadership Across Key Operations and Commands
Major General Vij has commanded an artillery regiment and two artillery brigades, showcasing his tactical acumen and leadership abilities even under challenging operational conditions. His operational expertise includes involvement in significant military missions such as Operation Rakshak, Operation Vijay, Operation Parakram, and Operation Meghdoot, demonstrating his strategic contribution to India’s defense preparedness.
Before this recent appointment, he served as the General Officer Commanding of the Dakshin Maharashtra & Goa Sub Area in Pune, where he was instrumental in ensuring operational readiness, promoting civil-military coordination, and implementing welfare initiatives for both serving personnel and veterans.
