Officers from College of Defence Management Strengthen India–Spain Defence Ties During ISMT Visit

Continuing their International Strategic Management Tour (ISMT) in Spain, a delegation of Future Strategic Leaders from the College of Defence Management (CDM) in Secunderabad, under the Integrated Defence Staff (IDS), has engaged with several prestigious military institutions across the country. This initiative aims to enhance academic and strategic collaboration while bolstering India’s defence diplomacy with European allies.

As part of their visit, the delegation attended sessions at the Defence Higher Education Centre (CESEDEN), which serves as Spain’s foremost military education institution, focused on cultivating senior defence leadership. During their time at CESEDEN, the visiting officers engaged in discussions with senior faculty members, exchanging insights on various topics, including strategic management, leadership development, and the integration of services within modern military frameworks.

In addition to their time at CESEDEN, the delegation also visited the Spanish Army Anti-Aircraft Artillery Command and the Spanish Air & Space Force Command. These visits provided the officers with a comprehensive look at Spain’s advanced air defense strategies, command structures, and training methodologies. Such interactions allowed the officers to gain invaluable insights into Spain’s approach to defence technology, airspace management, and readiness for contemporary warfare scenarios.

The meetings with senior military leadership from the Spanish Armed Forces emphasized the shared strategic perspectives regarding peacekeeping, technology integration, and operational coordination. Both parties recognized the significant potential for enhancing collaboration in areas such as defence education, joint training exercises, and strategic research initiatives.

This visit exemplifies the strengthening of India-Spain Defence Diplomacy, reinforcing mutual commitments to stability, peace, and progress. It highlights India’s proactive approach in expanding its international defence partnerships aimed at advancing collective security and leadership training.

The ISMT is a key component of the College of Defence Management’s curriculum, designed to broaden the strategic perspectives of officers by exposing them to global defence management practices and cross-cultural defence ecosystems. As these Future Strategic Leaders engage in such initiatives, they continue to deepen their understanding of international strategic relations, preparing to effectively contribute to India’s evolving defence strategy.
