Indonesia has unveiled its latest advancement in naval technology with the introduction of the KSOT-008, an AI-powered autonomous submarine aimed at enhancing the nation’s maritime defense capabilities. This innovative vessel represents a significant leap in Indonesia’s efforts to modernize its naval fleet and bolster its underwater defense mechanisms.
The KSOT-008 is designed primarily for surveillance and threat detection, providing an alternative approach to underwater defense. With the capability to remain submerged for up to 72 hours, the submarine can conduct extended operations without the need for surfacing. This extended operational timeframe enhances its effectiveness in gathering intelligence and monitoring maritime activities.
In terms of mobility, the submarine can achieve a maximum speed of 20 knots, equivalent to approximately 37 kilometers or 23 miles per hour. This speed allows it to cover significant distances quickly, making it an agile asset in Indonesia’s naval arsenal.
Furthermore, the KSOT-008 boasts an impressive range of remote control capabilities, allowing operators to manage the submarine from a distance of up to 200 miles (320 kilometers) via a mobile command center.
