A two-week intensive training programme for probationary Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) from the Tamil Nadu Police took place at the Madras Regimental Centre (MRC) in Wellington from October 6 to 18, 2025. This specialized course aimed to immerse the trainee officers in military-style discipline, operational planning, and the tactical use of modern technology in field operations.
Throughout the training, the DSPs participated in a range of exercises focused on basic military operations, small team tactics, and the handling of advanced weapons and equipment. Noteworthy aspects of the course included demonstrations showcasing the integration of technology in operational settings, which provided the officers with essential insights into the Indian Army’s use of innovation and precision in mission execution.
Participants were also introduced to the illustrious history and rich traditions of the Madras Regiment, recognized as one of the oldest and most decorated infantry regiments of the Indian Army. This structured exposure not only refined the participants’ leadership and decision-making skills but also deepened their understanding of the military’s operational ethos and the significance of effective teamwork.
This initiative marks a significant step in fostering robust civil-military cooperation between the Tamil Nadu Police and the Indian Army. The training is anticipated to improve coordination and preparedness, as well as mutual understanding between police and military forces during joint operations and crisis response scenarios. Such collaboration is expected to enhance the efficacy of response strategies in various situations, paving the way for a more integrated approach to maintaining law and order and ensuring public safety.
