The mortal remains of Wing Commander Namansh Syal, following his tragic loss in the recent HAL Tejas crash during the Dubai Air Show, were brought to Air Force Station Sulur near Coimbatore on Sunday morning. A dignified wreath-laying ceremony took place at the base, attended by senior officers, civil authorities, and comrades, all gathered to pay their final respects to the valorous officer.

Wing Commander Syal was serving with No. 45 Squadron, known as the Flying Daggers, which is one of the two frontline Indian Air Force (IAF) squadrons currently operating the indigenous Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas.

As part of the solemn proceedings, Wing Commander Syal’s remains were initially transported to the IAF Hospital in Coimbatore late Saturday night and placed in the mortuary. On Sunday morning, around 7 a.m., they were moved to the tarmac at Air Force Station Sulur, setting the stage for a poignant farewell.

Present at the ceremony were Coimbatore District Collector Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar, Superintendent of Police K. Karthikeyan, senior IAF officials, and members of the Flying Daggers Squadron. Their attendance highlighted the significant loss felt throughout the military community, as they honored the service, professionalism, and ultimate sacrifice made by Wing Commander Syal.

Following the tribute, his mortal remains were scheduled to be flown to Himachal Pradesh, his home state, where full military honors will accompany the last rites.

The tragic incident has cast a profound shadow over the aviation sector, with heartfelt tributes flooding in from across the nation. The IAF’s mourning of one of its finest fighter pilots underscores the deep respect and admiration held for Wing Commander Syal and his contributions to the force.
