Iveco Defence Vehicles (IDV) has announced a significant expansion of its agreement with the Italian Army, with plans to deliver an additional 658 tactical logistics trucks. This new arrangement raises the total number of vehicles ordered to 2,111 and marks a major commitment to enhancing the operational capabilities of Italy’s military.
This recent contract builds upon a previous agreement from December 2024, in which 1,453 of these platforms were originally ordered. The terms of the new deal extend delivery of the vehicles through to 2039, ensuring long-term support and enhancement of logistics operations.
The additional trucks will feature IDV’s latest military truck design and will be versatile, catering to various logistics roles. These roles will include transport vehicles, water and fuel tankers, container carriers, recovery platforms, and towing systems, significantly broadening the scope of operational logistics support available to the Italian Army.
In addition to the vehicles, IDV is set to provide technical assistance, sustainment, and comprehensive support services, ensuring that the trucks remain available throughout the program’s duration. This is expected to play a crucial role in maintaining operational readiness and supporting diverse missions.
IDV highlighted that this new fleet will serve to gradually replace aging vehicles currently in use for similar logistics functions. This transition aims to standardize logistics platforms to enhance efficiency in operations ranging from routine transport to high-demand support tasks.
A representative from IDV stated that this contract expansion signifies a crucial milestone in their ongoing commitment to bolstering Italy’s land operational capabilities.
