The Unconventional Warfare Course at the Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare School (CIJWS) in Vairengte wrapped up on December 24, 2025, marking the culmination of a rigorous and specialized phase of military training. This comprehensive program was designed to equip soldiers with advanced skills in guerrilla warfare tactics, innovative combat strategies, and survival techniques essential for operating in challenging environments.

Throughout the duration of the course, trainees engaged in intensive training sessions that strongly emphasized Red Teaming. This component enabled participants to critically assess and challenge conventional military approaches, enhancing their ability to respond effectively to unconventional and asymmetric threats. The training regimen was exhaustive, pushing soldiers to refine their skills in high-pressure scenarios.

During the valedictory address, Maj Gen Kulvir Singh, SM, Commandant of CIJWS, commended the trainees for their remarkable endurance, adaptability, and professionalism. He underscored the increasing significance of unconventional warfare skills in light of evolving conflict dynamics, highlighting the need for military personnel to remain ahead of emerging threats.

As the course concluded, Lt Gurbhej Singh received the prestigious title of Best in Unconventional Tactics. This recognition was a testament to his exceptional tactical acumen, innovative thinking, and stellar performance throughout the training, particularly under demanding operational conditions.

The successful completion of this course further solidified CIJWS’s reputation as a leading institution for counter-insurgency and jungle warfare training.
