Lt Gen C G Muralidharan, the Director General of Medical Services (Army), made an impactful visit to Base Hospital Delhi Cantt on December 29, where he inaugurated a newly renovated, state-of-the-art Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). This development marks a significant enhancement in the realm of neonatal healthcare services within the Armed Forces medical network.

The upgraded NICU comes equipped with modern medical infrastructure and advanced life-support systems. Its primary focus is to deliver comprehensive and specialized care to newborns in need of critical medical attention. The facility is anticipated to substantially improve clinical outcomes, strengthening the overall neonatal care capacity within the Armed Forces.

During his visit, Lt Gen Muralidharan took the opportunity to engage with various personnel, including officers, nursing officers, and Junior Commissioned Officers/Other Ranks (JCOs/ORs). He expressed admiration for the cohesiveness, professionalism, and teamwork displayed by the hospital staff. His commendation highlighted the dedication of medical and support personnel in ensuring high standards of patient care.

In addition to inaugurating the NICU, the DGMS reviewed the Key Location Plan (KLP) for the upcoming new hospital project. This included an assessment of progress, infrastructure development, and implementation timelines. He also witnessed the operational readiness of various hospital units and facilities, reaffirming the ongoing commitment of the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) to provide quality healthcare delivery.

The visit underscored the AFMS’s focus on technological modernization and future capacity building, which is vital for ensuring world-class medical support for service personnel, veterans, and their families. The inauguration of the renovated Neonatal ICU serves as a testament to the AFMS’s continual efforts to upgrade medical infrastructure and enhance specialized care services across Armed Forces hospitals.
