General Upendra Dwivedi, the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), recently visited the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Republic Day Camp (RDC) 2026, where he engaged with cadets representing various regions of the country and reviewed their activities.
Upon his arrival, General Dwivedi was warmly welcomed by Lieutenant General Virendra Vats, the Director General of the NCC. A ceremonial Guard of Honour was presented, with Senior Under Officer Utkarsh Sharma leading the contingent. This ceremonial welcome was complemented by an invigorating band performance from the Scindia Band based in Gwalior, which added vibrancy to the day’s proceedings.
During the visit, the COAS took a tour of the Flag Area, where NCC cadets showcased their efforts on a variety of social awareness themes. These presentations were designed to reflect national priorities, civic responsibilities, and an overall consciousness towards social issues. The themes conveyed the cadets’ deep understanding of contemporary challenges and highlighted their commitment to contributing positively to nation-building.
Additionally, General Dwivedi explored the NCC Hall of Fame, which celebrates the organization’s rich history and significant achievements. This exhibition not only highlights the impact of the NCC but also emphasizes its important role in shaping disciplined and responsible young citizens who are integral to the nation’s future.
The visit reaffirmed the strong ties between the Indian Army and the NCC, underscoring the latter’s critical function in fostering leadership, discipline, patriotism, and civic values among India’s youth.
