National Science Day 2026
India observed National Science Day on 28 February 2026 to commemorate the discovery of the Raman Effect by C. V. Raman in 1928. This groundbreaking discovery explained how light changes direction and energy when it passes through a transparent medium.
For this remarkable contribution to physics, Raman was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930, becoming the first Asian scientist to receive a Nobel Prize in the sciences.
The Government of India officially designated 28 February as National Science Day in 1986 to celebrate scientific achievements and promote scientific temper across the country.

Jammu & Kashmir Clinch Ranji Trophy 2025–26
In a historic achievement, Jammu & Kashmir won the Ranji Trophy 2025–26 title in their first-ever final appearance. The final match was played at the KSCA Cricket Stadium in Hubballi, where J&K defeated eight-time champions Karnataka cricket team.

Sustainable Road Safety Financing Project Launched
India received a significant boost in improving road safety with the launch of a Sustainable Road Safety Financing Project by the United Nations Road Safety Fund in New Delhi on 24 February 2026.

Iran Appoints Temporary Supreme Leader
