Surgeon Vice Admiral Vivek Hande, the Director General of Organisation and Personnel for the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS), conducted a visit to Military Hospital Jammu on May 7, 2026. The primary objective of this visit was to evaluate the medical infrastructure and patient care services available at the facility.
During his time at the hospital, Vice Admiral Hande engaged with hospital staff and interacted with patients across multiple wards. This provided him with a comprehensive understanding of the quality of care being delivered. He expressed his appreciation for the advanced facilities at the hospital, notably the state-of-the-art Intensive Care Unit (ICU), as well as the well-equipped laboratory and MRI/CT scan centre. These technological advancements are instrumental in providing holistic and comprehensive medical treatment.
In addition to assessing the general patient care, Vice Admiral Hande also visited the Early Intervention Center (EIC). He commended the dedicated staff for their exceptional and compassionate care directed towards children enrolled in specialized programmes. The Vice Admiral underscored the significance of such initiatives in promoting inclusive and effective healthcare delivery, emphasizing their role in improving health outcomes for young patients.
Moreover, the Psychiatry team received special recognition from the Flag Officer for their proactive programs that aim to bolster mental resilience and psychological well-being among military personnel. This highlight reflects the AFMS’s broader commitment to not only physical health but also mental health support for troops.
