Officer Cadets from the Indian Military Academy (IMA) recently engaged in an educational exposure programme at the National Hydrographic Office (NHO) in Dehradun from May 15 to 16, 2026. This initiative was designed to enhance their understanding of joint operational domains within the military framework.
During their visit, the cadets received comprehensive insights into crucial topics such as hydrography and nautical charting. They learned about the pivotal role that hydrographic operations play in facilitating safe maritime navigation, supporting naval missions, and bolstering national security.
NHO officials provided detailed briefings on the office’s operations and its significant contributions towards ensuring safe navigation and enhancing maritime domain awareness. The cadets were also educated on the critical nature of operational planning for the Indian Navy, emphasizing the many interdependencies in modern military operations.
The exposure programme notably enriched the future Army officers’ comprehension of maritime operations, highlighting the importance of inter-service cooperation and specialized technical capabilities that underpin defence mechanisms.
This visit underscores the Armed Forces’ ongoing commitment to fostering jointmanship, enhancing professional military education, and promoting cross-domain operational awareness among officer cadets, reflecting a holistic approach to military training and preparedness.
