Lieutenant General CG Muralidharan, the Director General Medical Services (Army) and Colonel Commandant of the Army Medical Corps, conducted a visit to the 158 Base Hospital and 38 AMSD on May 16, 2026. The primary goal of this visit was to assess the operational medical preparedness and evaluate healthcare support infrastructure in the crucial Siliguri Corridor region.
During his visit, Lt Gen Muralidharan introduced the “Ready Reckoner for Medical Officers,” a comprehensive reference guide aimed at improving the safe evacuation processes for critically ill patients. This initiative is designed to enhance the operational medical response and improve patient management protocols within military healthcare facilities.
In a further advancement of military healthcare capabilities, the General Officer also inaugurated the Film Array TORCH System (BIOFIRE), an innovative diagnostic platform intended to bolster rapid and precise medical diagnostics in military healthcare settings.
As part of his review, Lt Gen Muralidharan assessed the operational preparedness, logistics support, and healthcare delivery systems that are in place to assist troops deployed throughout North Bengal and Sikkim.
The General Officer expressed his commendation for the units’ professional excellence, the compassionate care provided to patients, and the unwavering combat medical support offered even in the face of challenging operational environments.
The visit underscored the Indian Army and the Army Medical Corps’ ongoing commitment to integrating advanced medical technologies and ensuring a robust healthcare framework to support operational formations in strategically vital regions.
