Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff of the Indian Navy, officially inaugurated the Naval Sailing Node at Bhojtaal in Bhopal on May 17, 2026. This newly established facility is designed to enhance watermanship training, instill discipline, and foster sporting excellence among naval personnel while simultaneously promoting adventure and aquatic sports activities for the youth.
The Naval Sailing Node will serve as a venue for both recreational and competitive watermanship activities. It is expected to significantly improve training offerings in various disciplines such as sailing, rowing, kayaking, and canoeing. This initiative aligns with the Indian Navy’s broader goal of fostering a passion for water sports within the community, particularly focusing on National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets and the youth of Madhya Pradesh. The facility aims to inspire these young individuals to consider potential careers in the Armed Forces.
The inauguration ceremony was marked by a vibrant sail parade, which included impressive demonstrations of kayaking, canoeing, and rowing performed by Indian Navy personnel. These displays not only highlighted professional seamanship but also showcased the Navy’s commitment to maritime sporting skills.
