The culmination of the prestigious Commando Course at the Junior Leaders Wing (JLW) in Belagavi on June 19, 2026, marked a significant milestone in one of the Indian Army’s most challenging training programs. This rigorous course saw participants not only from the Indian Army but also included 38 students from various Friendly Foreign Countries (FFCs), such as Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and the Maldives.

The course emphasized the development of crucial combat skills, physical endurance, leadership qualities, and resilience through an array of mentally and physically demanding exercises. Participants were subjected to intensive physical conditioning, tactical drills, survival training, and obstacle courses, all designed to push their limits under challenging conditions.

During the closing ceremony, Major General Rakesh Manocha, Commander of the Junior Leaders Wing, commended the graduating students for successfully navigating the course’s rigorous standards. His address reflected the pride and significance of the accomplishment for both the students and the institution.

The ceremony recognized several outstanding performers. Lieutenant Anni Nehra from the Sikh Light Infantry and Naik Patil Rakesh Pandurang of the Maratha Light Infantry were honored as the Best Students of the course, showcasing exceptional skills and commitment to the training regimen.

Among the international participants, the awards for Best Foreign Students were presented to Lieutenant Pema Singye Penden of the Royal Bhutan Army and Lance Corporal Abisek BK of the Nepal Army. Their commendable performance and professionalism throughout the course were highlighted, emphasizing the caliber of military training being provided.

The inclusion of military personnel from allied nations underscores the strengthening defense cooperation and military-to-military engagement between India and these partner countries. Courses like this one serve as crucial platforms for professional exchanges, enhancing interoperability, and fortifying strategic relationships among the militaries.

Officials emphasized that the successful completion of the course by all participants is a testament to their determination, discipline, and unwavering commitment to excellence in military service.
