Introduction

Success in the Chemistry section of the NDA & CDS examinations depends more on conceptual clarity and smart preparation than rote memorization. Every year, questions are repeatedly asked from fundamental topics such as Elements, Compounds, Mixtures, and Physical & Chemical Changes. These chapters form the foundation of Chemistry and are frequently tested through direct conceptual questions as well as statement-based and application-oriented problems. Therefore, mastering these topics is essential for scoring well in the examination.

In today’s live class, we focused on solving the most important Previous Year Questions (PYQs) from these chapters. The objective was not only to understand the correct answers but also to identify the recurring question patterns, eliminate incorrect options efficiently, and strengthen conceptual understanding.

The first step is to build a strong conceptual foundation by understanding the basic definitions and characteristics of elements, compounds, and mixtures. Students should be able to distinguish between these concepts based on composition, properties, methods of separation, and examples. Many NDA and CDS questions are framed to test these differences, making conceptual clarity extremely important.

The second part of the strategy is to focus on physical and chemical changes through everyday examples. Candidates should understand the characteristics of each type of change, such as reversibility, formation of new substances, energy changes, and changes in physical properties. Questions often present real-life situations where students must identify whether the change is physical or chemical.

The most important aspect of today’s session was practicing Previous Year Questions. PYQs reveal the level of difficulty, frequently repeated concepts, and the examiner’s approach. By solving these questions, students learn how to avoid common mistakes, improve accuracy, and develop confidence in tackling similar questions in the actual examination.

Students were also advised to prepare a concise revision notebook containing important definitions, differences, examples, and exceptions. Revising these short notes regularly helps in retaining concepts for a longer period and makes last-minute revision much easier before the examination.

Another key strategy is regular practice through mock tests and topic-wise quizzes. After completing each chapter, students should attempt practice questions under timed conditions to improve speed, accuracy, and decision-making skills. Analysing mistakes after every practice session is equally important, as it helps identify weak areas that require further revision.

Finally, students should revise these fundamental topics multiple times before moving to advanced Chemistry chapters. Since these concepts are interconnected with later topics, a strong foundation will make learning subsequent chapters easier and improve overall performance in the Chemistry section.

Conclusion

Today’s live session was designed to strengthen the core concepts of Elements, Compounds, Mixtures, and Physical & Chemical Changes through extensive practice of important Previous Year Questions. Consistent conceptual revision, regular PYQ practice, and disciplined mock-test analysis are the most effective strategies for achieving a high score in the NDA & CDS 2 2026 Chemistry examination. Students are encouraged to revise today’s questions thoroughly, understand the logic behind every solution, and continue practicing similar questions regularly. A systematic approach, combined with continuous revision and confidence in fundamentals, will significantly enhance performance in the examination.
