Vice Admiral Tarun Sobti, the Deputy Chief of the Naval Staff, conducted a significant visit to the Eastern Naval Command in Visakhapatnam from July 5 to July 7, 2026. The primary aim of this visit was to assess the Command’s operational readiness and its initiatives in capability development.
During his visit, Vice Admiral Sobti engaged with personnel stationed aboard INS Agray, INS Dunagiri, and INS Mysore. These interactions were integral to the comprehensive review of the Command’s operational status and its ability to adapt to the evolving maritime security landscape.
In addition to personnel engagements, Vice Admiral Sobti reviewed the progress of ongoing shipbuilding, refits, and infrastructure projects at Hindustan Shipyard Limited. This review underscored the Indian Navy’s commitment to enhancing indigenous capabilities and ensuring the timely execution of crucial naval initiatives.
The visit also allowed Vice Admiral Sobti to meet with Vice Admiral Sanjay Bhalla, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Naval Command. Furthermore, Vice Admiral Sobti addressed the Command’s officers on various critical topics, including the Indian Navy Vision 2047, the Indian Maritime Doctrine, and the Maritime Security Strategy.
