Government Schemes Launched in 2014
Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY)
Launch: 28 August 2014
PMJDY was introduced as the world’s largest financial inclusion programme. The scheme aims to provide every unbanked household with access to banking facilities, RuPay debit cards, accident insurance, overdraft facilities, and financial literacy. It has significantly expanded banking access across rural and urban India.
Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM)
Launch: 2 October 2014
Swachh Bharat Mission aims to eliminate open defecation, improve sanitation, and promote cleanliness across the country. The mission has led to the construction of millions of household toilets and significant improvements in sanitation coverage in both rural and urban areas.
Make in India
Launch: 25 September 2014
The Make in India initiative was launched to transform India into a global manufacturing hub by encouraging domestic manufacturing, foreign investment, innovation, and job creation across multiple sectors.
Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY)
Launch: 11 October 2014
The programme encourages Members of Parliament to develop model villages through integrated development focusing on infrastructure, education, sanitation, healthcare, and livelihood generation.
Namami Gange Programme
Launch: July 2014
Namami Gange is an integrated river conservation programme focused on cleaning and rejuvenating the River Ganga through pollution control, sewage treatment, riverfront development, and ecological conservation.
