Vairengte, Mizoram: In a significant gesture to commemorate the 27th Kargil Vijay Diwas, the Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare (CIJW) School organized a comprehensive Ex-Servicemen (ESM) Outreach Programme. This initiative aimed to honor veterans, Veer Naris (widows of soldiers), and their families, reaffirming the Indian Army’s commitment to their welfare.
The event served as a unifying platform, gathering Ex-Servicemen, Veer Naris, and serving Army personnel for various activities intended to recognize the sacrifices and contributions of the veteran community. It showcased the enduring bond between the Army and those who have honorably served the nation.
A highlight of the outreach programme was an interaction session, allowing veterans to reconnect with fellow service members and share their experiences. The Veer Naris were specially recognized for the tremendous sacrifices made by the families of soldiers who laid down their lives in service to the country.
In an effort to promote the health and well-being of veterans and their families, the CIJW School set up a medical camp and dental check-up during the event. This initiative aimed to provide essential healthcare services while reinforcing the Army’s continued support even after active service.
Additionally, an informative session led by the Officer-in-Charge of the ECHS Polyclinic in Aizawl provided veterans with valuable insights into healthcare facilities, medical benefits, and welfare schemes available under the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS). This session also addressed various queries from the veterans and their dependents, enhancing their understanding of available support systems.
Major General Kulvir Singh, Commandant of the CIJW School, addressed attendees with heartfelt gratitude for their dedicated service and significant contributions to the nation. He acknowledged the unwavering support and sacrifices of the families of the veterans, emphasizing that their legacy continues to inspire future generations of soldiers.
The outreach programme signified the Indian Army’s steadfast commitment to fostering its relationship with the veteran community, ensuring that former servicemen and the families of fallen members remain connected to the organization they once served.
