Lucknow hosted a major veterans’ healthcare meeting on November 6, 2026, as Headquarters Madhya UP Sub Area organised the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) Annual Hospital Conclave 2026. The gathering brought together nearly 300 delegates from empanelled hospitals and the veteran community.
Major General Maneesh Kukrety, General Officer Commanding (GOC), Madhya UP Sub Area, chaired the conclave. The discussions centred on improving coordination within the ECHS system so that ex-servicemen and their dependents can receive better medical support.
Focus on healthcare delivery
According to the information shared about the event, the conclave was used to examine coordination challenges in healthcare delivery and ways to make treatment more timely, accessible and effective for veterans and their families. The emphasis remained on the practical functioning of the support network rather than on any one hospital or institution.
A major point of the meeting was closer cooperation between ECHS authorities and empanelled hospitals. The goal was to make access to medical facilities smoother and to strengthen the wider healthcare support system available to former military personnel.

Participation from multiple stakeholders
The presence of nearly 300 delegates indicated the scale of the coordination effort involved in veterans’ healthcare. The conclave brought together representatives from empanelled hospitals, military healthcare administrators and members of the veteran community.
The ECHS, a healthcare initiative of the Ministry of Defence, provides medical services to eligible retired Armed Forces personnel and their dependents through ECHS polyclinics, service medical facilities and empanelled hospitals across India.
The conclave also reflected the Indian Army’s continued focus on veteran welfare and the importance of dependable healthcare after retirement for those who have served the nation. By encouraging closer interaction between ECHS authorities and hospitals, the event aimed to support better service delivery for veterans and their families.
