1 October: International Day of the Elderly
- The International Day of Older Persons (IDOP) is observed every year on October 1 to raise awareness about issues affecting elderly and to appreciate contributions that older people make to society.
- On December 14, 1990 the United Nations General Assembly voted to establish October 1 as the International Day of Older Persons.

- The main objective of WHD is to raise awareness about mental health issues all over the world.
11 October: International Girl Child Day
- International Day of the Girl Child is celebrated annually on 11 October to highlight and draw attention towards the challenges that girls’ face.
- Aim: To highlight the challenges of gender inequality that girls are facing in present world. The inequality includes areas such as access to education, nutrition, legal rights, medical care, and access to employment.

20 October: National Solidarity Day

- It is the date on which China attacked India in 1962.
- 20th October 1962 the war began when people liberation army of China attacked India at the Himalayan borders in Ladakh and Arunachal simultaneously.

31 October: Rashtriya Ekta Diwas
- The government, in 2014, decided to observe Sardar Patel Jayanti Day as Ekta Diwas.
- This occasion provides an opportunity to re-affirm the inherent strength and resilience of the nation to withstand the threats to its unity, integrity and security.
- Sardar Patel is credited with uniting all 562 princely states in pre-independent India to build the Republic of India.
- Rashtriya Ekta Diwas was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014, by paying tribute to the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s statue and flagging of a program which was known as ‘Run For Unity’ in New Delhi.
