International Day Against Nuclear Tests

  • On 2 December 2009, The 64th Session Of The United Nations General Assembly Declared 29 August The International Day Against Nuclear Tests.
  • The Resolution Was Initiated By The Republic Of Kazakhstan With A View To Commemorating The Closure Of The Semipalatinsk Nuclear Test Site On 29 August 1991
  • 2010 Marked The Inaugural Commemoration Of The International Day Against Nuclear Tests.
  • The International Instrument To Put An End To All Forms Of Nuclear Testing Is The 1996 Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT). Unfortunately, This Has Yet To Enter Into Force.

National Sports Day

  •  Dhyan Chand, Born August 29, 1905, Allahabad, India—Died December 3, 1979, Delhi, Indian Field Hockey Player Who Was Considered To Be One Of The Greatest Players Of All Time.
  • Chand Is Most Remembered For His Goal-Scoring Feats And For His Three Olympic Gold Medals (1928, 1932, And 1936) In Field Hockey, While India Was Dominant In The Sport.
  • He Joined The Indian Army In 1922 And Came To Prominence When He Toured New Zealand With The Army Team In 1926.
  • During India’s Victorious World Tour Of 1932, He Scored 133 Goals. Known As “The Wizard” For His Superb Ball Control, Chand Played His Final International Match In 1948, Having Scored More Than 400 Goals During His International Career.
  • National Sports Day Was 1st  Celebrated On 29 August 2012 On The Birthday Of Legendary Hockey Player, Major Dhyan Chand Known As “The Wizard”. He Is Most Remembered For His Goal-Scoring Feats And For 3 Olympic Gold Medals (1928, 1932, And 1936) In Field Of Hockey.

  • Home And Cooperation Minister Amit Shah Is Chairing The 26th Meeting Of The Western Zonal Council At Gandhinagar. The Meeting Is Being Organized By The Inter-State Council Secretariat Under The Ministry Of Home Affairs In Collaboration With The Government Of Gujarat.
  • A Wide Range Of Issues Including Infrastructure, Mining, Water Supply, Environment And Forests, And Issues Of General Regional And National Interests Will Be Discussed In The Meeting.
  • The Western Zonal Council Comprises The States Of Gujarat, Goa, Maharashtra And The Union Territories Of Dadra And Nagar Haveli And Daman & Diu.
