Air Marshal Tejinder Singh Takes Command of IAF Training Command in Bengaluru

Air Marshal Tejinder Singh has officially taken command of the Indian Air Force (IAF) Training Command during a ceremonial event at the command’s headquarters in Bengaluru. This leadership transition signifies a crucial development for the IAF’s training framework, which is essential for equipping personnel to meet the demands of contemporary aerial warfare.

The ceremony commenced with a traditional inspection of the Ceremonial Guard of Honour by Air Marshal Singh, who received a military welcome from troops in formation. After the inspection, he paid his respects by laying a wreath at the HQ Training Command War Memorial, honoring the valor of IAF personnel who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.

Commissioned into the fighter stream in June 1987, Air Marshal Singh brings a wealth of experience with over 4,500 flying hours accumulated over nearly four decades. His distinguished career includes commanding a fighter squadron, a radar unit, and a major fighter base. His operational leadership has extended to his role as Air Officer Commanding (AOC) in Jammu and Kashmir, and he has strategically contributed in key staff positions such as Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Operations – Offensive and Strategy) and Senior Air Staff Officer (SASO) at the Eastern Air Command.

Recently, he served as the Deputy Chief of Air Staff at Air Headquarters in New Delhi, a role he assumed on September 1, 2024. His appointment to the Training Command underscores the Air Force’s trust in his capability to lead its key training initiatives during a period characterized by modernization and technological advancements.

The event was attended by numerous senior IAF officers, with the headquarters prominently displaying the “Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief” title, signifying the importance of the occasion. The Training Command is tasked with overseeing the comprehensive training of IAF personnel, covering everything from foundational instruction to advanced tactical and technical skills, ensuring the force maintains its operational superiority.

Air Marshal Singh’s illustrious service has been recognized with prestigious awards, including the Vayu Sena Medal in 2007 and the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal in 2022, attesting to his significant contributions to the Indian Air Force. His leadership is anticipated to further enhance the Training Command’s mission of developing well-rounded and combat-ready air warriors.

As the IAF intensifies its focus on state-of-the-art platforms, joint operations, and evolving air warfare doctrines, the Training Command under Air Marshal Singh’s leadership is prepared to play a pivotal role in shaping the future generation of Indian military aviators.
