Air Marshal Tejinder Singh officially took command of the South Western Air Command (SWAC) of the Indian Air Force on January 1, 2026. In a formal ceremony at Headquarters SWAC, he was honored with a ceremonial Guard of Honour, reflecting the prestigious nature of his new role. Following the official reception, he paid tribute at the Command War Memorial, commemorating the bravery and ultimate sacrifice of air warriors who have served the nation.

A seasoned veteran, Air Marshal Singh was commissioned into the Indian Air Force in June 1987 and has established himself as an exceptionally skilled fighter pilot. With over 4,500 hours of flying experience, he brings a wealth of operational expertise to his new position. Throughout his career, Singh has held a variety of commanding roles, including leading a fighter squadron, a radar station, and a major fighter base. His previous assignment as Air Officer Commanding in Jammu & Kashmir entailed significant operational oversight in a critical area of responsibility.

At the strategic level, Singh has accumulated extensive experience in vital staff positions. His roles have included Assistant Chief of the Air Staff (Operations – Offensive) and (Operations – Strategy), as well as serving as the Senior Air Staff Officer at the Eastern Air Command and the Deputy Chief of the Air Staff. Most recently, he served as Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Training Command, where he played an instrumental role in shaping training doctrines and building capacity for the next generation of air warriors.

In his new capacity as AOC-in-C of SWAC, Air Marshal Tejinder Singh will supervise one of the Indian Air Force’s most strategically important theaters. His primary objectives will include enhancing combat readiness, promoting joint operations, and advancing capability improvements along the western front, ensuring that the IAF remains prepared to meet modern challenges with agility and strength.
