On This Day 1960, The oldest fighter squadron of Indian Navy INAS 300 was commissioned at Royal Navy Air Station, Brawdy, UK, in presence of Ms Vijaylakshmi Pandit, High Commissioner.

INAS 300 or the White Tigers heralded the era of Carrier-borne aviation into the Indian Navy & made epochal contributions to Naval Ops in 1961 (Goa Liberation), 1965 (IndoPakWar) & 1971 (Bangladesh Liberation War), winning 01 MVC and 5 Vir Chakras

1983 witnessed a paradigm shift in INAS 300 with induction of Sea Harriers, bringing Vertical Take Off & Landing VTOL capability from the deck of INS Viraat; & 2016 ushered-in the Swing Role Supersonic MiG-29K onboard INS Vikramaditya, resurrecting the art of tail-hooking

While the squadron has transitioned in terms of capability and technology, its professionalism, valour and fighting spirit have continued to serve, protect and secure the great maritime commons.
