Apollo Micro Systems, the Hyderabad-based defense and aerospace technology company, has made significant strides in its operations by securing a defense order worth ₹100.25 crore. This contract is for the supply of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), underscoring the growing emphasis on India’s indigenous drone sector.

In a regulatory filing, Apollo Micro Systems disclosed that the order was awarded in the normal course of business from a private entity, with deliveries set to be made to the Ministry of Defence. The company is expected to complete the execution of this contract within a span of four months, reinforcing its position in the defense supply chain.

This recent order highlights the Indian armed forces’ increasing dependency on domestically developed unmanned platforms that are crucial for surveillance, reconnaissance, and tactical operations. The versatility of UAS offers significant advantages, including real-time intelligence and reduced risk for personnel involved in operations.

Specializing in the design, development, and manufacturing of advanced electronic, electro-mechanical, and engineering systems for defense applications, Apollo Micro Systems is consolidating its status as a pivotal player in India’s defense manufacturing landscape. The latest contract not only emphasizes the company’s technical capabilities but also reflects the broader trend of integrating indigenous technologies into military operations.

Earlier this month, the firm announced ambitious plans to invest ₹1,500 crore for a new defense manufacturing facility in Telangana. This greenfield project aims to establish state-of-the-art production capabilities for missile warheads, rocket motors, and artillery ammunition across various calibers, along with comprehensive ammunition systems for rockets and other armaments.

Additionally, Apollo Micro Systems currently boasts an order book worth ₹785 crore as of September 30, 2025 (1HFY26), indicating robust demand from both defense and aerospace sectors. The company’s stock has demonstrated remarkable growth, with shares surging over 120% this year, reflecting strong investor confidence in the burgeoning defense manufacturing sector in India.

This latest UAS contract not only contributes to the company’s growth trajectory but also aligns with the Indian government’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative, which aims to strengthen self-reliance in defense and technology. The expanding role of private industry in fulfilling the operational and technological needs of the armed forces is becoming increasingly apparent as the country seeks to bolster its defense capabilities.
