The US Air Force will participate in the joint India-US major air drills known as “Cope India” using two B1-B heavy bomber jets for the first time. This week’s drill will include the B1 heavy bomber jets. The drill began in Kalaikunda and included US platforms such as a fleet of F-15 E fighter planes, and C-130 and C-17 transport aircraft in light of the current geopolitical situation and China’s exerting coercion in the Indo-Pacific area.
Two B1 bombers were among the American exhibits at the Aero India 2023 show in Bengaluru in February. However, the aircraft will participate in the exercise for the first time in India.

The B1-B, also known as “The Bone,” is a long-range, multi-mission conventional bomber capable of carrying out missions around the world from bases in the United States as well as forward-deployed areas. The B1-B is regarded as the backbone of the United States’ long-range bomber fleet because it carries the most unconventional payloads of guided and unguided weapons.
