International Conference on Defence Finance & Economics

Rajnath Singh will inaugurate the three-day International Conference on Defence Finance & Economics in New Delhi on April 12, 2023. The conference, organised by MOD (Finance), will provide a platform for eminent policymakers, academics and government officials from within the country and abroad to share their insights and experiences on Defence Finance and Economics.
Delegates from the USA, UK, Japan, Australia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Kenya will participate in the conference.
To foster dialogue and collaboration among the participants and contribute to the country’s defence readiness with optimum financial resources and effective implementation of the Defence Budget.

31^st Kendriya Sainik Board Meeting

Rajnath Singh presided over the 31^st meeting of Kendriya Sainik Board (KSB) in New Delhi on April 11, 2023. The KSB is the apex body of the Central Government and States/UTs entrusted with the responsibility of the welfare and resettlement of the Ex-Servicemen (ESM).
With a view to keeping the Armed Forces young, a large number of soldiers are honourably discharged at the age of 35-40 years. This results in the addition of about 60,000 soldiers every year to the existing strength of 34 lakh ex-servicemen.
The agenda points of the meeting included ways to expand the scope of Armed Forces Veterans’ Day celebrations; enhance pride amongst the ESM community; increase grants under the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund; Uniformity in State benefits/grants provided to Armed Forces personnel; establishing of ESM Corporation in respective states and instituting an award for the best performing Rajya Sainik Board.

War In Space A Possibility, Need To Develop Dual-use Platforms: CDS

Highlighting the intense race towards the militarisation of space, CDS Gen Anil Chauhan made a strong pitch for developing dual-use platforms with a special focus on incorporating cutting-edge technology in the space domain.
Inaugurating a three-day Indian Def Space Symposium organised by Indian Space Association, Gen Chauhan said the steady traffic towards the weaponisation of space has led to a possibility of a war in space.
He said India should expand the NavIC constellation, provide agile space-based intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) and ensure secure satellite-assisted communications.

NAVAL AVIATION INDUSTRY OUTREACH PROGRAMME

A Naval Aviation Industry Outreach Programme in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry, Eastern Region, CII(ER) was conducted on 11 Apr 23 at Kolkata. The event was organised by the Naval Liaison Cell, Barrackpore under the aegis of HQENC.
The event aimed at fostering an ecosystem conducive to ‘Innovate-Integrate-Indigenise’ witnessed the active participation of over 100 industry partners operating in and around Kolkata.
During the event, the second edition of Manual for Indigenisation of Air Stores (MINAS) which has undergone a comprehensive review after its initial publication in 2010 was released by the DCNS.

INS Prabal Completed 21 Years of Service

INS Prabal (K92), the first ship of the Prabal Class Missile Vessels, was commissioned into Indian Navy on 11 April 2002. The meaning of the name ‘Prabal’ is one who is strong.
