Fighter Squadron Triumphs at Camp Varuna 2025 at Indian Naval Academy

In an impressive exhibition of resilience and camaraderie, cadets from the 6th and 7th terms, along with those from the 2nd term NOC (Extended), initiated four days of intense challenges at Camp Varuna, an annual event that rigorously tests endurance, leadership, and seamanship at the Indian Naval Academy (INA).

The camp kicked off with early morning navigation runs requiring immense stamina and determination, followed by a demanding 9 NM pulling regatta. This event not only tested individual strength but also emphasized the importance of teamwork. Cadets underwent open sea sailing and watermanship drills, forcing them to confront the natural elements they will one day command. These exercises served to sharpen their skills in dexterity, coordination, and unwavering resolve.

Adding to the complexity of the training were multiple live-firing sessions, designed to enhance the cadets’ focus and composure under pressure. Each activity was meticulously crafted to prepare them for the multifaceted challenges of life at sea, with the aim of cultivating not just officers, but leaders characterized by courage and integrity.

The camp culminated in a memorable Campfire Night ceremony, attended by Vice Admiral V. Srinivas, PVSM, AVSM, NM, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief (South). The event, set against a starlit sky, was a night of celebration where stories of bravery and triumph were shared, emphasizing the strong bonds formed among the cadets and their unyielding spirit.

The Fighter Squadron emerged as the champions of Camp Varuna, earning the prestigious honors that underscore their discipline and resilience. The experiences shared at Camp Varuna reflect the core values of the Indian Navy—endurance at sea, excellence on land, and an indomitable will to overcome every challenge.

From dawn until dusk, Camp Varuna 2025 truly exemplified the spirit of the Indian Navy, underscoring the critical importance of teamwork, perseverance, and the relentless pursuit of excellence.
